  • New commissions are coming!

We have an exciting spring ahead of us as new commissions are coming our way these days. We are currently collaborating with composer Ansgar Beste on his new piece specially written for Pinquins, with its premiere in June 2017. Earlier this month we received the newest piece by composer Jan Martin Smørdal, My Favorite Thing 1, also with its premiere in June. Stay tuned!

  • Happy new percussion year!

2015 was a great year for Pinquins with a lot of exciting projects and tours.

In 2016 we will premiere new pieces by Henrik Hellstenius and Arnold Marinissen, and our collaborative process will start next weekend. We are really looking forward to this!

We are also continuing our collaboration with Moving Classics, and this fall we go back to Iceland and Cycle festival for music and art.

We are looking forward to another year with new music!

  • Iceland here we come! (Soon!)

Looking for a good reason to visit Iceland? Join us at Cycle - festival for music and arts!

In about one month Pinquins go to Iceland to participate in the new festival in Kópavogur called "Cycle". This festival is also one of our co-collaboraters in "Moving Classics - Network for new music".

At the festival we will play one evening concert where we premiere Brice Catherin's new piece: "36000 years alongside Baubo". In addition to this we will perform several other pieces from our repertoire, 3 of them comissioned by Pinquins.  We will also do one concert together with the South Icelandic Chamber Choir, where we will play on Páll Gudmundsson's amazing stone harps. We are really looking forward to this festival!

We participate in the festival with support from The Norwegian Arts Council, Culture Point Nord, Norsk - Islandsk Kultursamarbeid, Music Norway and Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.

  • Pinquins + SISU = Ultima 2015

We are very happy to finally announce that we are performing Gérard Grisey's masterpiece "Le noir de l'etoile" at the Ultima Festival this year. The concert is in the Jacob Culture Church on September 16th, and we are playing together with the second percussion trio in Oslo, our "big brothers" SISU. This fantastic sextet has never been performed in Norway before, so this is your chance to hear it! In this piece Grisey uses the sound from a pulsar (a neutron star) from outer space, live electronics, and of course tons of percussion instruments! Don't miss it!!
